On to other things a little more upbeat here are more random pictures I've been taking! I haven't had the chance to get too home sick yet, so I'm trying to keep myself as busy as possible. Today I'm sitting down with my friends to map out when and where we want to travel over the next four months! Next weekend I'm going to Venice for Carnival and I can't wait!

First Week of Classes!
This week I had my first week of classes! I'm taking Religion and Media, Contemporary Dutch Social Policies (which has lots of interesting field trips planned), Intercultural Communication, and Ethnic Diversity & Popular Culture. The last two classes I mentioned are taught by the same teacher who I like a lot! All of my classes seem like they're going to be very interesting and teach me a lot. However the way school is run here is a little different then at home. Classes meet only once a week and last 3 hours! Its a really long time to stay put! Also, we don't have any tests, but like 200 pgs of reading we're supposed to do every week and at the end of the semester we have 15 page papers to write for ALL of our classes due in the same week! I'll have to really push myself to work ahead of time! Yesterday we went to the Anne Frank House that's just the next block over from where I live. It was a very cool experience, I got a little teary eyed toward the end where they have a huge picture of Otto Frank visiting the annex in 1960 (for those of you that don't know he's the only person who survived the Hollocaust out of everyone he was hiding with). It was a very humbling experience and made me realize how grateful we all should be to live in a free land far away from the numerous conflicts around the globe. I can't imagine having to live in fear everyday like so many others have to.

This is the bell tower just next to the house. Anne wrote in her diary about how it was difficult to get used to the bells ringing every hour. When it is really quite at night I can hear them from my room.
Lunch at the pancake bakery. It is so delicious and right next door!

We found mexican food! Seriously some of the best guacamole I've EVER had! P.s. thats actually water in the tequilla bottle
